Project Overview
Approximately 70% of global maternal deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa. 5% of women in Africa succumb to death due to pregnancy complications, and infant mortality has risen to 10% of births since 2020. MercyGift has been able to significantly address these concerns through providing resources for a fractional investment. Through basic medical care and services we are saving lives, bringing hope, and strengthening communities. In 2024 our goal is to support 3,000 mothers with medical services.
For $20 mothers receive the following:
- An Ultrasound
- An OBGYN Consultation: Including assistance from midwives, nurses and counselors
- Prenatal Education and Care
- A Birthing Kit: Due to poverty, hospitals require patients to bring their own medical supplies in order to be admitted. Mothers with a medical kit have a 20 time higher chance of survival than those without one.
- Presentation of the Gospel: Bible provided
- Community Services: For continued support
